Privacy Policy

Summary: Focus Pet requires a Google or Apple account to sync your progress across devices. We store a cloud backup of your game data, basic account info, and device metadata (such as your phone model) in Firebase (Google). We do not sell your data. Ads are shown to free users via Google AdMob.

1. Information We Collect

Focus Pet requires sign-in with Google or Apple to enable cloud backup and cross-device sync. The following data is collected:

  • Account identifier (UID) — a unique ID assigned by Firebase Authentication. Used to associate your cloud save with your account.
  • Email address — obtained from your Google or Apple account at sign-in. Stored in your profile for account management.
  • Display name — obtained from your Google or Apple account at sign-in (if provided). Stored alongside your profile.
  • Device & app metadata — operating system platform (iOS / Android), device model name (e.g. "iPhone 14 Pro"), app language, and last-seen timestamp. Used for diagnostics and to tailor in-app experience.
  • Push notification token (FCM) — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token tied to your account, stored to enable service-related remote notifications. Most reminder notifications are still generated locally on-device.
  • Game progress data — focus sessions, coins, pets, habitats, habits, tasks, achievements, and preferences. Backed up to Firebase Firestore to enable restore and cross-device sync. A daily snapshot of key stats (coin total, session count, streak, level) is also recorded for our internal product analytics.
  • Referral data — if you enter another user's referral code at sign-in, we store a record under the referring user's account so they can receive a coin reward. If you publish your own referral code, the code is mapped to your UID.
  • Advertising identifier (IDFA / Ad ID) — used by Google AdMob to show relevant ads (free version only).
  • Crash data — may be collected by Firebase Crashlytics to help diagnose app issues.
  • Purchase receipts — processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store); we do not store your payment details.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to:

  • Authenticate your identity and link your cloud save to your account.
  • Back up and restore your game progress across devices.
  • Show relevant advertisements to free users (via Google AdMob).
  • Process premium subscriptions and coin pack purchases.
  • Send local push notifications for tasks and pet reminders (only if you grant permission).
  • Diagnose crashes and improve app stability.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Advertising

The free version of Focus Pet displays ads powered by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show personalised ads. On iOS, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before any ad personalisation occurs.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalised advertising in line with the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. You can review or change your consent choices at any time from Settings → Privacy within the app.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable for Focus Pet.
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID.

Upgrading to Focus Pet Premium removes all ads entirely.

4. In-App Purchases

Focus Pet offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly) and coin packs, processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your payment information. Subscription management is handled through your platform account settings.

  • iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
  • Android: Google Play → Subscriptions.

5. Cloud Backup & Data Storage

Focus Pet uses Firebase (Google) to store a cloud backup of your game progress. Your data is saved to Firebase Firestore under a path tied to your account UID. This allows you to restore your progress if you reinstall the app or switch devices.

A local copy of your data is also stored on your device. If you sign out without backing up, your local data remains on the device until you uninstall the app.

Firebase data is hosted on Google Cloud servers and is subject to Google's Firebase Privacy Policy.

6. Push Notifications

Focus Pet sends local push notifications to remind you about scheduled tasks and your virtual pet. These reminders are generated on-device using the schedule you configure within the app.

In addition, when you sign in we register a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token against your account so we can send service-related remote notifications (for example, important account or product updates). We do not use this channel for marketing. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings, and the FCM token is removed when you delete your account.

8. Children's Privacy

Focus Pet is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@mooderbaylabs.com and we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Your Rights & Account Deletion

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • Accessing the data we hold about you.
  • Deleting your account and all associated data.
  • Opting out of personalised advertising (see Section 3).

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your Firebase account and cloud backup. For step-by-step instructions or to request deletion by email, see our Account Deletion page.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
